In 2001, a group of community leaders came together with Monsignor Joe H. Crosthwait and Monsignor Ed Randall. From the first meeting, the founding board set out to build from nothing, an independent Catholic high school in the west Houston & Katy area.
Opened in 2004 as the first new Catholic high school in the Houston area in over 40 years, Pope John XXIII High School (as it was known then) offered a refreshing new model of hope for the future of Catholic secondary education.
With the canonization of the school's patron in 2014, the name changed to St. John XXIII College Preparatory. Today, SJXXIII provides an academically excellent and challenging program that consists of a college preparatory curriculum with Advanced Placement opportunities, competitive extracurricular activities, and rigorous faith and character formation, our students achieve outstanding academic results and are also prepared for a life of service to God, family, and community.
St. John XXIII relies upon generous benefactors from across the country for financial support. Philanthropic gifts support a variety of activities at the school and are vitally important to filling the gap between Tuition & Fees and the Total Cost of Education for our students.
St. John XXIII College Preparatory is an educational non-profit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. Donations may be tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Please check with your tax preparer for details.
