Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is proud to be the official health care provider of St. John XXIII. This partnership enables Houston Methodist to provide the onsite Sports Medicine Team including a full-time Athletic Trainer and Team Physician to the student athletes of SJ23. This team strives to deliver the Houston Methodist Experience to the SJ23 campus to ensure student athletes receive excellent sports medicine care and to promote safety while performing at the highest level.

About our Athletic Trainer
Originally from Canada, Ariane Gaither has called Texas home for more than 15 years. She earned her bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and master's degree in Athletic Training from Texas Lutheran University.
Before joining Houston Methodist in 2024, Ariane worked in the secondary school setting. Since then, Ariane has provided athletic training services across a variety of settings including Bellville ISD, Houston Ballet Academy, and other community-based programs.

Irvin Sulapas, MD

About our Team Physician
Dr. Irvin Sulapas is a board-certified & fellowship trained primary care sports medicine physician specializing in the care of athletes and active individuals. He earned his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, followed by a family medicine residency and sports medicine fellowship at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
Prior to joining Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, he served on the faculty at Baylor College of Medicine and UTHealth Houston and has been a team physician for multiple collegiate and professional organizations, including the Houston Dynamo FC, Texas Southern University, University of Houston, and the University of St. Thomas.
