Yesterday, the SJ23 Track and Field regional qualifiers traveled to Seguin, TX, with State Qualification as their goal. Many of SJ23's qualifiers excelled in their events from start to finish. Congratulations to all those who secured a spot in the state meet next week in Waco, Texas! School record details and a list of state qualifiers are below.

 

Before Fonseca's jump, the SJ23 Triple Jump school record was held by Helcio Sumbe, Class of 2011, with a jump of 42 feet 9.5 inches. As the crowd cheered and clapped for Fonseca, he utilized his final jump not only to achieve a personal record (PR) but also to set a new school record at 43 feet 0.5 inches. With this remarkable jump, Fonseca secured the title of 2024 Regional Champion and is now setting his sights on the State meet next week.

 

In 2016, Senior Brittany Bowles set the SJ23 Long Jump school record with a leap of 17 feet 2.75 inches. Fast forward to 2024, Annabelle Lanik has emerged as a multi-state qualifier for SJ23. Yesterday, her impressive jump of 17 feet 10 inches not only secured her as the new school record holder but also earned her qualification for the State meet. Lanik also captured qualification in three other events.
