SJ23 Cheer Tryouts

Thank you for your interest in the SJ23 Cheerleading Squad! Our goal is to encourage school pride, good sportsmanship, and a positive campus image.
Please review the attached information and email Head Coach, Marysa Adams for any questions. madams@sj23.org

Tryouts will take place in the Spring Semester, around the first week of May.
The cheer information packet will be sent to you via email in February and will be available under the cheer page located on the SJ23 website.
Once you sign up and your forms are submitted, you will receive an invite to the Cheer/Band page via the student email on the tryout application. SIGN-UP IS REQUIRED for all further communication. A parent meeting will be held 1 – 2 weeks before tryouts. You will receive the meeting time and location via the band app and parent email submitted on the tryout application.

Tryout Process:

A cheer clinic will be held Monday – Wednesday, the first week in May, followed by tryouts Thursday.

The candidates will learn and perform a cheer (with a jump incorporation) and dance. They will be required to show 3 jumps (once must be a toe touch). Running tumbling and standing tumbling is not required but encouraged as it will boost your score.

Tryout results will be emailed to the parent email on your tryout form.
Tryout scoring will be based on a method determined by a skills evaluation. Members must try out each year for placement on a squad. A rubric for skill evaluation will be developed and given to the candidates before tryouts.
Tryouts are closed to observers. Tryouts are final and non-appealable
