Girls Varsity Wins 3rd Annual SJ23 XC Classic!

On Saturday, August 23rd, the Lions welcomed 57 private schools to Paul D Rushing Park. With competition spreading from various athletic associations, the Lions were ready to toe the line.
The Varsity girls' team won the meet, finishing 43 points ahead of the second-place team. The Lions had two top 10 finishers: Madigan Sero in 7th place and Kristen McCain in 10th. Strong scoring performances also came from Maria Arriola Alvarado (11th), Mary Lassen (26th), Samantha Court (28th), Anna Gabriel (29th), and Alli Garrity (45th). 

The Varsity boys team also had a great day, securing a 2nd-place finish. Matthew Muraski led the team with a 6th-place finish, followed closely by Luke Ottosen (8th) and Paul Cosgray (11th). David Spalding finished 19th, and Alex Lawton took 32nd place. 

The JV boys team placed 4th overall, led by freshman Martin El Fady, who had a 2nd-place finish. The JV girls team finished in 6th place, with Camila Melendez leading the group with a 28th-place finish. 

Thank you to all the parents and SJ23 staff who woke up early and came out to help at the meet! 

The Lions will be heading to Tomball to race in the Cooper Dragon Invitational hosted by The John Cooper School this upcoming Saturday. First race is at 8:00am.
