The Lions traveled to Austin for the annual Volleypalooza, a tournament that is one of the toughest due to its intense competition. While SJ23 is a 6A TAPPS organization, the Lions competed mainly against UIL 5A-6A schools.
With several nationally ranked teams, SJ23 was ready to compete. With every possession playing an important factor, some of their matchups were true nail-biters. The highlight of the weekend was SJ23's upset victory over Brandeis High School, where the Lions won the matchup in three sets. Senior Lilly Broussard played a vital role in the team's ability to rally together, as this was a tournament she had experienced for multiple seasons.
As the Lions prepare for their next matchup, the girls will use their experience from Volleypalooza when they host Fort Bend Christian at SJ23 on Tuesday, September 2nd, at 5:30 p.m. Come out and support your Lions!
