Here is a closer look at our Valedictorian, Roser Ginebra Saavedra
Roser will attend the University of Texas at Austin, where she plans to pursue Neuroscience. She chose this path, hoping to help make healthcare accessible to the impoverished and the homeless.
During her time at SJ23, Roser played volleyball for two years and was an active member of several clubs, including Key Club and the Spanish Club.
Outside of school, Roser played club volleyball for four years and tutored math during the school year, sharing her talents to support her peers.
Roser’s academic achievements include being recognized as an AP Scholar, a recipient of the National Hispanic Recognition Program award in her junior year, and a member of both the Science National Honor Society and the National Honor Society during her senior year. She was also a member of the Spanish Honor Society in her sophomore and junior years.
In addition to her academic and extracurricular involvement, Roser has demonstrated a strong commitment to service. She volunteered at the Brookwood Community, the Westview School, Vacation Bible School (VBS), and the Houston Food Bank, contributing her time to make a positive impact in her community. Roser attended Magnolia School in Houston and is a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church.
Here is a closer look at our Salutatorian, Anastasia Dementyev
Anastasia will attend Hillsdale College on a full-tuition scholarship, majoring in Chemistry with plans to possibly minor in Music. After college, she will pursue graduate studies in Neuroscience.
At SJ23, Anastasia served as Key Club Secretary and Senior Representative for Loreto House. Additionally, she held the role of House Representative in both her Freshman and Junior years.
Anastasia is a member of the National Honor Society (NHS) and National Junior Honor Society (NJHS), as well as the Science Bowl and Quiz Bowl teams. She also showcased her talents in the school play during the spring semester.
An accomplished athlete, Anastasia was a member of the varsity swim team for all four years at SJ23, qualifying for the TAPPS State Meet each year. Outside of school, she has been passionate about horseback riding since a young age.
In her free time, Anastasia enjoys singing and playing both classical and acoustic guitar. She has worked as a babysitter, swim lesson coach, and barista/cashier at a dessert café.
Anastasia's achievements include being recognized as a Commended National Merit Scholar, an AP Scholar with Distinction, and a recipient of the National Award CLT10 for being among the Top 50 U.S. Students. She was also honored as a U.S. Presidential Scholar Candidate.
As a dedicated volunteer, Anastasia sings with the choir at St. Theresa Catholic Church. She has served for two years as a Core Team leader at St. Theresa’s Youth Group, where she leads weekly faith formation sessions and attends church.
