Pursuing Academic Excellence

Following our mission, St. John XXIII encourages the development of mind, body, and spirit of its students.

Consequently, our students benefit from a solid academic curriculum that is strongly rooted in Catholic values. Being a community of life-long learners, we challenge students to pursue academic excellence and develop habits of learning that will prepare them for post-secondary education.

St. John XXIII College Preparatory is proud to offer a wide array of courses to enrich the total education of our students.

To earn a St. John XXIII diploma, a student must earn a minimum of 28 credits consisting of required core classes as well as a variety of elective classes.  Students who transfer into St. John XXIII from a high school which does not require Theology courses will have one credit waived per year of high school outside of St. John XXIII.

Courses taken prior to 9th grade for high school credit must be designated as such on the student’s incoming transcript. St. John XXIII will recognize these courses for placement only, but will not award St. John XXIII course credit towards the 28 graduation credit requirement. Courses taken prior to 9th grade will not be calculated into their St. John GPA.

It is the responsibility of each St. John XXIII student to monitor his or her progress toward completion of all graduation requirements.

List of 3 items.

  • Physical Education

One Physical Education credit may be earned by participating in two or more seasons of TAPPS school sponsored athletics at St. John XXIII College Preparatory.  No credit will be given for private lessons, clubs, or athletic teams outside of St. John XXIII.
  • Foreign Language

Two consecutive years of the same foreign language is required to graduate from St. John XXIII College Preparatory; however, the school strongly encourages students to take at least three years because many colleges and universities require three or four years for admittance.  Language classes must be taken in sequence; a student cannot take Spanish I his or her Freshman year and Spanish II during the Junior year.
  • Mathematics

Four consecutive years of mathematics at St. John XXIII College Preparatory are required for graduation. A student must be enrolled in mathematics for every year that he or she attends St. John XXIII.
