Groundbreaking to be Held for Addition to SJ23 Gym
A groundbreaking ceremony will be held for an addition to the original gym at Saint John XXIII College Preparatory. The new addition will include a weight room, public stadium restrooms and a studio/multi-purpose space.
The project is part of the larger Pillars and Cornerstones Campaign to improve the school's operational efficiency. The campaign also includes plans for an expansion of the chapel, athletic lighting, and student center enhancements.
With the groundbreaking of the gym addition, the campaign now turns its attention to other projects, including the new chapel. The chapel is a priority for the school, as it will provide a much-needed space for liturgy and worship. The design is being completed by Rafael Morales of Jackson & Ryan Architects with input from students, parents, faculty and benefactors.
The groundbreaking ceremony is open to students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and members of the SJ23 community. The event is a celebration of the school's commitment to providing its students with a top-notch education. "This will be a great day for our school," said Principal Joe Noonan. "These new facilities will allow us to provide our students with the best possible education and spiritual formation."
Construction of the expanded gym space should be completed in about four months.
St. John XXIII College Preparatory forms the hearts and minds of young men and women in a Christ-centered community dedicated to academic excellence, the pursuit of virtue, and service to others in the Tradition of the Catholic Church.
