  • President - Joanna Jasek

Greetings! My name is Joanna Jasek and I am thrilled to serve as your president of the Parent Association Board for the 2019-2020 school year. My husband Ken and I are both native Houstonians and have been married for 32 years. Our son Matthew is a sophomore at St. John XXIII and is active in several school sports and activities. I attended the University of Houston and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and my Teacher Certification. I am currently retired after a 30-year career with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office where I worked as a Crime Analyst. My family and I are members at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church where we at have attended for over 30 years.

At my son’s previous school, I co-chaired two school galas, served as vice president of the PTO, homeroom mom (5 years), school chaperone, driver for after school sports, and Booster Club volunteer. At St. John XXIII I served a year on the gala sub-committee then moved on to serve as this year’s auction co-chair. I am a football team mom, attend Parent Theology, and participate in Adoration.

I believe parents are the greatest resources a school has. Time, talent, and treasure, we can all contribute in one way or another to the success of the school. It is my desire to do all I can to make high school a great and memorable experience for our children.

  • Treasurer - Kim Allen

Hi, I’m Kim Allen, the SJ23 Parent Association treasurer for the 2019-2020 school year. My husband, Steve, and I have lived in Katy 22 years. We have a 16-year-old daughter, Gabrielle (or Gabby as she is now known as since attending SJ23).  She is currently a Sophomore here at St. John XXIII. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Following college, I worked for Price Waterhouse Accounting Firm in Houston as an auditor for several years. After PW I worked for Duke Energy, one of the largest electric power holding companies in the United States. I started as an accountant for Duke then joined their marketing/sales group. I left the corporate life with the birth of our daughter and began volunteer work.

We built a home in old Katy 4 years ago. Prior, we lived in Cinco Ranch for 18 years where I was a member of the Cinco Ranch Ladies Club. During my 10 years as a member, I served as President, Vice President, and Parliamentarian of the C. R. Ladies Club. My daughter and I have been active members of the National Charity League for the past 4 years and enjoy doing philanthropic work together. For the past 2 years, I have volunteered and been a part of the SJ23’s Gala committee where I have made many dear friends. My family and I have been members of Second Baptist Church since 2000 where I have volunteered for many vacation bible schools, camps, Sunday school leader, and attended bible studies.

It will be a pleasure to serve as SJ23’s PA Treasurer and to continue supporting our great school! ~God Bless

I have been married to my husband Tim, for over 20 years and we have two children that attend St. John XXIII, Bridget (10th grade) and Jake (9th grade). I hold a bachelor’s degree from Otterbein University and obtained my Teaching Certification from Ohio Dominican University. I worked for the McGraw-Hill Publishing Company after college before making a career change to become a teacher. I have taught and coached in both the Columbus, Ohio Catholic Diocese schools and our own Galveston-Houston Diocese schools. I love working with children and in the education field, so I feel right at home at St. John XXIII.

At my children’s previous school, I acted as Vice President and Secretary of the PTO as well as a Gala Chairperson, and Room Parent. At St. John XXIII, I have chaired the Prospective Parent Brunch, been a committee member for the school Gala the past two years, volunteered at our first annual St. John XXIII Feast Day, and I work at the Roar Store. I am grateful that my children attend such a wonderful school and I cherish every opportunity to help St. John XXIII succeed.

As a former teacher and coach, I have a unique perspective because I have literally been on both sides of the education table. I can optimize this experience to best serve our school. God Bless you and your family and I hope the remainder of the school year is wonderful for you. Go Lions!!
