Graduation Update

April 28, 2021
Saint Peter Chanel

Dear Senior Parents and Guardians,

Over the past several days I have received feedback from several parents regarding the graduation timing and seating for the Class of 2021, which I do appreciate. To clarify the time discrepancy, we will go with the text of the graduation announcements – the Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement exercises will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.

Regarding the seating and guest plans for this event – be assured that we want to provide a wonderful graduation experience, and we are balancing all of the constraints this year to the best of our ability.  I am asking for your continued understanding and patience as the TCCB-ED and Archdiocesan guidelines for gatherings and liturgies remain in place.

Navigating these requirements has made a significant impact on the final plan. Despite being able to host a beautiful outdoor ceremony – which still must be of limited capacity based on the guidelines – we are also mindful of a weather contingency in the case that we must move inside. This further necessitates the need to limit the number of guests, despite our desire to open our campus to more visitors.  Please note, however, that this event will be streamed live so that those unable to attend can view the proceedings.

I know this has been a difficult year for you and your students. To their credit, the Class of ‘21 has been resilient from the very first moment of their senior year. They have done an amazing job working with our faculty and staff to continue the wonderful traditions, clubs, sports, and House activities at SJ23. Parents, you have also been an invaluable source of volunteerism and energy throughout this year.

Thank you for your continued enthusiasm as we conclude this school year.

Sincerely in Christ,
