National Merit Scholars

A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), that conducts the program, will be presented to these scholastically talented seniors. These young ladies have demonstrated outstanding potential throughout their high school years at St. John XXIII College Preparatory, a competitive, co-ed, Catholic high school.

Nationwide, nearly 34,000 commended students are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2019 competition for National Merit Scholarship Finalist standing, commended students place among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2019 competition by taking the 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

A spokesperson from for NMSC commented, “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”

Established in 2004, St. John XXIII College Preparatory is a premiere Catholic high school with the mission to prepare the hearts and minds of our students to serve God and others. Located on 35 acres, the campus is conveniently located off the Grand Parkway and I-10 near the communities of Houston and Katy, Texas. St. John XXIII offers honors, AP, fine arts, and numerous athletic and extracurricular opportunities. Students are grouped into five “houses” to promote school spirit, fellowship, spirituality, and academic achievement.
