New Swim Coach

Her first year-round swim team was the Texas Terrapins, where her first coach and still friend was Holly Bowman, the daughter of Eddie Reese, the 40-year veteran coach at the University of Texas and multiple time U.S. Men’s Olympic Team Coach.

 

The bulk of Coach Connelly’s competitive swimming years were spent with the Cy-Fair Swim Club (aka FLEET), a gold medal USA swimming club where she became one of the top sprint freestyle and breaststroke swimmers in the state. She competed in the Texas Age Group Championships as well as many U.S. Sectional Championships.

 

Coach Connelly graduated from Pope John XXIII High School in 2013 and swam for four years under Head Coach Dana Abbott. In her freshman year at PJ23 she became the swimming programs 1^st individual state champion. While attending Pope John she was a 3-time MVP and a member of the girls’ team that won a Regional Championship and the schools’ 1^st and 2^nd state titles.

               

Upon graduation from Pope John, she attended Division I, University of North Texas on an athletic swimming scholarship. She competed in four Conference USA meets, while continuing to specialize in sprint free and breast stroke. Additionally, she maintained a steady time on the sprint medley and freestyle relays. As a senior she was named Captain of the team. Courtney graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Rehabilitation Studies with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies.

 

She has taught swim lessons at both Dad’s Club and FLEET to children of all ages and some adults. Coach Connelly enjoys seeing people love the water and feel comfortable swimming. Even more, she enjoys watching others find a passion for the sport that has given her so much!

 

The athletic department is excited to bring Coach Connelly on board, and we look forward what she will bring to the swimming program.
