Building Skills

St John XXIII Lady Lions wrapped up its inaugural basketball skills camp late June. The Lady Lion skills camp took place in SJ23’s Competition Gym June 25th- 28th. The camp hosted girls ages 9 to 15 from 12 area schools in Katy, Houston, and Cypress.
This is St John XXIII’s first summer offering sports camps. “SJ23 recognized the need for faith-based sports camps in our area” said Coach Mulligan. “Providing young female athletes the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the game is really important to the growth of our program and our school”.

The Lady Lion basketball camp emphasized balanced skill development. Drills focused on using their weak hand in a 2-1 ratio to help strengthen each player’s given weakness. The 4-day camp afforded girls an opportunity to learn new skills, meet new friends, and continue to enjoy the game of basketball!
