Track & Field State Results

Congratulations to our student athletes who performed at the TAPPS State Championship Track and Field Meet.
On Friday, May 4, Andrew Blick ‘19 and Ben Turner ’19, were able to stay focused and after several rain delays brought home medals in their events. Blick threw a personal best and school record of 137’ in the discus to place 3rd.
 

The 4A, 5A, and 6A pole vault did not begin until midnight on Saturday, May 5, but Turner was able keep his eyes on the prize. For the second year in a row, Turner is the TAPPS 6A State Champion in the pole vault.
 

On Saturday, May 5, Harrison Steen ‘21 gave his best effort in the 1600m to place 7th in the state. Steen is a rising star that we are looking forward to having on the team for the next 3 years.
 
Our 4x200m relay team (Omozusi Guobadia ‘19, Keegan O’Connor ‘18, Ben Turner ‘19, Ian Craig’18) placed 6th. In the last event of the day our 4x400m relay team (Guobadia, Craig, Turner, O’Connor) dropped a second from their regional qualifying time to set a new school record of 3:25.63 placing them 4th in the state.
 


These young men have given their all to the Track & Field team since January. They represented St. John XXIII with a sense of honor and pride. Please congratulate these young men on a great season if you see them.
