National Merit Scholarship

St. John XXII College Preparatory in Katy is pleased to announce that two students were recently named finalists through the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Emily Poux and Bridget Parmenter will be considered for more than 7,500 scholarships worth more than 30 million dollars when they graduate this May. Having two finalists in a graduating class of only ninety-three students is an unprecedented achievement for a school of our size.

Parmenter and Poux were among 15,000 students chosen out of 1.6 million PSAT/NMSQT testers last year. Their dedication and commitment to a Catholic college preparatory education has resulted in numerous scholarships and awards. Parmenter will be attending the University of Oklahoma on a full tuition scholarship and will be majoring in Education and English. Poux will be attending Texas A&M University on various scholarships and majoring in Chemical Engineering.

Additionally, five of our other students were recognized by the program for their achievements. Griffin Alexander and Keegan O’Connor were named “Commended Students,” meaning that their scores were in the top five percent of test takers. Daniel Azuara, Bailee Johnson, and David Thompson were identified by the National Hispanic Recognition Program for scoring among the top 5,000 of 250,000 test-takers with a 3.5 grade point average who are at least one quarter hispanic.

St. John XXIII is proud of all our nationally recognized students. We believe they are representative of the excellent educational and character forming opportunities that exist at our school.
