  • Upcoming Production of "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown!"

    The theatre department is looking for some volunteers to build the set pieces for our upcoming production of “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown!”  Please contact Betsy Barry at bbarry@sj23lions.org if you are interested. 

    The musical is Dec 2-4th at 7:30 pm  
  • Information for the Week of October 11th and PSAT guide

    Please read about the week of October 11th for information about PSAT and Parent/Teacher Conferences:
     
    Monday, October 11th – No school
    Tuesday, October 12th – Crimson Day Classes
    Wednesday, October 13th – PSAT for 9th 10th and 11th graders
    • Students can wear Free Dress
    • Report to assigned classroom at 8:00 AM
    • Students will be dismissed when the test is over around 12:00 PM-12:30 PM
    • There will be no cafeteria service and no extended care
    • No school for 12th graders (use this day as a college campus visit day)
    • All 9th 10th and 11th grade students have already been signed up for the test through SJ23

    Thursday, October 14th – Gold Day Classes
    Friday, October 15th – Parent/Teacher Conferences (no classes for students)

    Parent Teacher conferences will take place on campus Friday, October 15 8:00am-11:50 am then 1:00pm- 4:00pm. Please see Link below. You will be able to sign up for one 10-minute conference slot per student with any of your students' teachers. The last day to sign up is Wednesday, October 13th at 8:00pm.

  • Commended National Merit Scholarship Students

    The Principal, Joe Noonan, of St. John XXIII College Preparatory high school announced today that Claire Holecek, Sean Korell, Nathan Polzer, William Rehfeld and John Sutton have been named Commended Students in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, will be presented by the principal to these scholastically talented seniors.

    12:00 PM – 1:05 PM -     G group #1

    • Desserts will be provided for SJ23 students by the parent association

  • National Merit Semi-finalists announced

    St. John XXIII College Preparatory in Katy is pleased to announce Janice Lin of Katy, Gray Podolak of Katy, and Mary Margaret Speed of Missouri City, were recently named as National Merit Semi-finalists through the National Merit Scholarship Program. These three outstanding students will be considered for more than 7,500 scholarships worth more than thirty million dollars when they graduate in May 2022.

    Lin, Podolak, and Speed were among 16,000 students selected out of 1.6 million PSAT/NMSQT testers last year.  They are all representative of the excellent educational and character forming opportunities that exist at SJ23.  This marks the first time in school history that three individuals achieved this significant honor.

  • National Hispanic and African American Recognition

    The College Board, which administers the PSAT and SAT among its activities, recognizes those students who have excelled on their PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, or AP Exams, as well as their classwork, through its National Recognition Programs. Students selected for this prestigious honor can cite it on their college and scholarship applications. These National Recognition Programs grant underrepresented students academic honors which can be included on college and scholarship applications, connecting them with universities across the country during the admissions process. Colleges and scholarship programs identify students awarded National African American, Hispanic, Indigenous and/or Rural/Small Town Recognition through College Board’s Student Search Service.

    SJ23 is pleased to announce that the following students have been recognized as College Board National Recognition Program Scholars:

    • Blanca Castillo Nunez – National Hispanic Recognition Program

    • Diego Moncada – National Hispanic Recognition Program

    Our Sophomore Retreat 
    • Due to scheduling conflicts with our speakers, we have moved our Sophomore Retreat  from November 5th to December 3rd from 8am-2:30pm. Thank you!
     
    Quest Retreats this year are scheduled for January 14-16 and April 8-10. Quest is a weekend retreat offered to our Freshmen and Sophomores and provides opportunities for students to both grow in their faith and to meet new friends. If you’d like to sign up, please come by Campus Ministry.
     
     
    Juniors & Seniors: Our fall Kairos Retreat is full but we do have a second Kairos scheduled for February 17-20th. Stop by Campus Ministry to sign up!

    There is still room for student volunteers at the St. John Vianney Bazaar on Sunday, October 10th. Contact Mrs. Dronet or Ms. Meneilly for more information. The last day to sign up is Monday, October 4th.
