Prayer is the raising of the mind to God.  The actual words matter less.

Forming the Minds and Hearts of Our Students

St. John XXIII College Preparatory firmly believes that the role of faith is essential and has a tremendous impact on all aspects of our lives. Our dynamic campus ministry program is committed to playing a vital role in forming the minds and hearts of our students. This program involves and serves the entire faculty and staff, our student body, and all of our families.

  • Liturgy & Devotions

As the source and summit of our lives, all of our liturgical action and worship is centered upon the Eucharist. As such, we celebrate weekly Masses at St. John XXIII. Students are expected to be dressed in full Mass uniform.
    Mass Schedule:
    Monday - 7:15am

    Tuesday - 7:15am

    Wednesday (All-School Mass) - 9:20am*

    Thursday - 7:15am

    Friday - 7:15am

*The All-School Mass may be celebrated on other days of the week on solemnities, holy days of obligation, and/or other special occasions.

    Our regular liturgies also include:

    · School-wide Penance services twice a year,
    · Daily opportunities for individual confession,
    · Eucharistic Adoration every Friday in the chapel,
    · The Angelus daily (Regina Coeli during the Easter season).
Opportunities for students to be involved in Liturgy include serving as Lector, Altar Server, Member of the Choir, Musician, and Sacristan. Please contact Mrs. DeMois in Campus Ministry to volunteer.
Parents are invited to offer an hour of adoration before the Blessed Sacrament every Friday in our chapel. Parent volunteers sign up to adore Christ in the Blessed Sacrament in one hour time slots, and students are free to come pray/adore throughout the day. To receive weekly emails with the sign up for adoration, contact Becky Neeson at
  • Vocations

“It is Jesus that you seek when you dream of happiness; he is waiting for you when nothing else you find satisfies you; he is the beauty to which you are so attracted; it is he who provokes you with that thirst for fullness that will not let you settle for compromise; it is he who urges you to shed the masks of a false life; it is he who reads in your hearts your most genuine choices, the choices that others try to stifle.
It is Jesus who stirs in you the desire to do something great with your lives, the will to follow an ideal, the refusal to allow yourselves to be grounded down by mediocrity, the courage to commit yourselves humbly and patiently to improving yourselves and society, making the world more human and more fraternal.” ~ Saint John Paul II
Each and every person shares the universal call or vocation to a life of holiness. Some individuals have a unique call to serve the Church in the priesthood or religious/consecrated life. In the fall of 2015, we were excited to learn that two of our alumni have responded to discern a call to the priesthood. Christopher Wuenscher (class of 2009) is currently a seminary for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and Cameron Guice (class of 2013) is in the novitiate for the Legionaries of Christ in Cheshire, Connecticut.

  • Retreats

To fulfill our school’s mission of preparing the hearts and minds of our students, we offer several opportunities throughout each school year to reflect on and promote the development of our spiritual lives. As St. John XXIII so eloquently states, “My Soul is open before you like a blank sheet of paper. Write on it what you will, O Lord: I am Yours.”
